Arthitis is a word that can terrorize those amongst us that are getting a little older. Arthritis is a condition that affects mainly, though not always, those amongst us a little older than we would like.

Lets have a look at Omega 3 fish oil for arthritis relief. Firstly lets start with a look at arthritis itself.

There’s many different forms of arthritis, over 100 actually, but the general cause is the same. Inflammation of the joints and pain and difficulty of movement of the joints. This can be caused by nutritional problems or by repeated movements, repeated heavy lifting and so on.

One of the major nutritional problems can be caused by free radicals which can damage parts of your body including your joints.

An improvement in the intake of natural foods and less processed foods, particularly fresh fruit and vegetables, can help increase the levels of anti oxidants in our diet and thereby combat arthritis and a host of other ailments that our modern lifestyle causes.

And the pain of arthritis is caused by inflammation in the joints. Inflammation is a real scourge and is believed by some to be the major cause of many of the age and lifestyle related diseases so many of us get. Inflammation can eat away at our joints.

Today I want to look at arthritis and fish oil, or more specifically the role of fish oil in reducing the symptoms of arthritis.

There is in fact a wide range of different health conditions that are helped by fish oils with good Omega 3 fatty acids. These are polyunsaturated fats and these are good for you unlike those “bad” saturated fats.

There’s specifically 2 Omega 3 fats, EPA and DHA, that are shown to be good for your heart and many other health conditions. Now science has found a link between Omega 3 fats and arthritis relief.

By increasing our intake of fish oils rich in Omega 3 we can reduce the symptoms and pain of arthritis.

So why would taking more fish oil combat the pain of arthritis? Because fish oil is an excellent way to combat inflammation.

It is known that the use of Omega 3 for rheumatoid arthritis in particular, but also for other forms of arthritis, will significantly reduce pain once the user has been taking the fish oil supplements for a period of time. They do not work like painkillers, and it will take some period of use before the benefits are felt.

And it’s now clear that this does occur, it’s not just speculation.

In the past arthritis sufferers have used anti inflammatory drugs like Vioxx and Celebrex to combat inflammation causing arthritis but these are linked to serious side effects. Since 1999 Vioxx has been linked to around 100000 cases of heart disease.

But unlike anti inflammatory drugs fish oil has positive side effects on general health.

Like all these things though there are both good and bad fish oil supplements. Visit my website for a free fish oil buyers guide.
