Is Your Anger, And Your Life, Out Of Control?

Are you angry from time to time? Every one does. Anger is a normal emotional response to various life stimuli and situations. But although everyone gets angry from time to time not every one has a real problem with excessive anger that affects their life.

Anger is an emotion, but like many emotions it can be overpowering and can get way out of control. And this happens to many people. But if your anger gets out of control it can be so damaging to so many different areas of your life.

It can lead to all sorts of unusual behavior. There are so many ways that someone suffering from uncontrolled anger can manifest that. Some are obvious like shouting, but some are not so obvious. For example it can lead to behavior like short temperedness, sullenness, withdrawal into oneself, chronic grumpiness and overt aggression when dealing with other people.

And this can escalate to more serious problems like threats of violence and real violence towards others, including ones own family and children, and friends. When this occurs the anger is way beyond what is normal and must be dealt with.

These sorts of behaviors can have severe impacts on the life of the sufferer. Usually their relationships suffer or break down entirely, they can become lonely and alone and resentful, and feel like they’ve totally lost control of their lives. In serious cases life can totally spiral out of control leading to even more serious implications.

And that’s just the impact on the emotional state of the anger sufferer. There can be all sorts of health implications as well. For example excess anger can manifest itself in heart related problems and heart attack, high blood pressure and stroke, digestive problems and skin problems, insomnia and depression and more. It can get pretty scary.

And of course an episode is unpredictable, and there is nothing you can do about the event that triggers it. Everyone suffers the usual life setbacks and frustrations. There’s nothing you can do to avoid them, they will happen to you. For some people they feel frustrated and angry, but over time that subsides and they carry on with life.

But even though you can’t stop those frustrating and stressful events happening to you it is certainly possible to change how you react to them. The events will happen, but how you react is what creates the anger and frustration.

Your reaction is under your control. Now of course just understanding this doesn’t mean that you can immediately change it. But you know that with the right anger management techniques you can change your response.

There are anger management techniques available that allow you to control your reaction to these stressful events. Not everyone can immediately take control of their lives with some simple techniques, some need professional counseling, but many can.

But there are answers to spiraling down into a life of rage and upset and broken relationships. Once you’ve done that you ought to get down to work and start learning some solid and effective anger management techniques.
