Good Nutrition for a Healthy Life

Food is our essential source of energy and vitality. As human beings, we need to eat at regular intervals in order to replenish what the body uses up during the day.

Many of the common ailments of human beings are a result of improper nutrition. Our body needs constant supply of energy producing carbohydrates, fats, fiber, proteins, and water. It also needs vitamins and minerals for other bodily functions like maintaining the digestive system, neutralizing acidity and clearing toxins. When the body does not get these nutrients in optimal form and the right quantity, it falls ill.

While it is advisable to eat green vegetables and fresh food, it is not always possible to do that owing to our metro-lifestyle and work habits. We have become used to eating processed food like polished rice, pasteurized milk, frozen meat and fast food like burgers, pizzas, and soft drinks. Most of our health problems originate from such food habits.

The food processing industry has no doubt ensured that we get food which is hygienic and which can be stored for longer periods, but such food has been proven to be nutritionally inferior compared to fresh food. Techniques like drying, heating, salting, and separating alter the nutritional content of the food items.

Another important point is that food which is suitable for a child or a teenager is not suitable for a grown-up adult. With age, our body needs different proportions of micro- and macro-nutrients. But ignorance or habit prevents us from changing to a new diet and thus making us prone to several diseases, which can be quite easily avoided with the right nutrition.

The government provides nutritional standards and guidance but not many of us are aware of them. And even if we are aware, it is difficult to keep track of them regularly in our busy lives.

Nutritional supplements offer a simple way out of this situation. These are carefully designed mixes of essential nutrients required by the body on a daily basis. Consuming these fulfill the body’s needs of optimal nutrition, which as we have seen is impossible to achieve through regular diet alone.

It is also not advisable to just take a particular vitamin or mineral supplement, which is found to be lacking because nutrients work together. Excessive consumption of one may lead to unknown health effects.

The best nutritional supplements in the market offer a complete nutrition program for all age groups. This includes instructions on the right nutrients, the correct proportion, the optimal mix and the right form for consumption. I always believe that prevention is better than cure. Therefore, to prevent health problems, nutritional supplements are the right solution.
