A Look into Pilates Fitness Program

Pilates is an ingenious fitness program based on the idea of its founder Joseph Pilates. Soon, it became very popular worldwide. Moves in Pilates are executed with a specific attention to the specifics of the correct moves. Quality takes precedence over quantity in this discipline.

All students of Pilates must understand that all movements originated from the mind. The goal of every student is an overwhelming desire to improve them self, both in how they appear and their wellbeing. Don’t aim for an increase in muscle mass when performing Pilates exercises.

The mind when totally mastered, will allow you to move your body freely and accurately as needed. Pilates comes in a wide variety of movements, you can choose to practice with or without machines. Focus, concentration, control, breathing, and flowing movement remain the underlying philosophy.

It is crucial to follow exactly the moves as defined by the instructor as every little action in Pilates has its own meaning. Today, this form of fitness program has become very popular as people turn to this program to help achieve better health and a more peaceful state of mind. The demands of the modern world obviously made this form of fitness program which is based on achieving a peaceful mind and a balanced outlook very much in demand.

This is a flexible fitness program that lets anyone participate irrespective of age or body conditions. It even accommodates pregnant women and children. At the beginning its great movements were used for recovering dancers’ injuries and even one of the greatest revolutionary figure in Pilates, Moira Merrithew, became familiar to this concept only after suffering an accident. She later met Romana Kryzanawska who is one of Joseph Pilates’ disciples. Moira was introduced to Pilates through Romana and later Moira’s passion for this fitness program compels her to create Stott Pilates, which is now a world famous brand in the world of Pilates.

Pilates had greatly expanded on the idea of sculpting the body through gentle systematic moves and change the worldwide perception of how sports could be. People have to understand that this concept has nothing in common with competition. It is all about searching for an inner equilibrium and self body balance.
